Life After Joe edition by Harper Fox Literature Fiction eBooks
After being jilted by his boyfriend for a woman, you know the drill: wants a future with a wife & kids etc, Matt hits the booze and one night stands to fill the hole left in his heart. One night in a club he notices a mysterious man sitting at the bar fending off admirers. Matt takes his chance and after causing a disturbance to get the mystery man’s attention, he sidles up to him only to receive a warning. Matt turns on his heal and makes an even bigger commotion that results in him being tossed out of the club. Aaron, the mysterious man is not too far behind him. And so Aaron enters Matt’s life seemingly with no expectations but he also has baggage that he keeps to himself. Their story begins.I’ve only read one other book by this author, Brothers of the Wild North Sea, and loved it because it was so descriptive and I was able to go back in time. This book is also just as well written. I could really feel what Matt was going through after Joe dumped him. The emotions he experienced were what I experienced when it happened to me. I swear I was re-living that part of my life.
Oh the feels. The angst. The hope. The uncertainty. Everything I love was right here on these pages. I highly recommend this book.

Life After Joe edition by Harper Fox Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
SPOILER SPOILERS BELOW. SPOILERS!!!!
I was mesmerized by this story of two men dealing with the loss of their previous loves (very different losses, but losses nevertheless) and finding their way to each other. Matt is in downward spiral after Joe left him and as we learn later Aaron also deals with pain and loss in his own way. God their imperfections seem so real, their flaws seem so real, especially Matt's IMO. And his fears that maybe they gone too fast, and their all consuming desire for each other.
And Aaron's admission at the end that he still loves Rosie despite the fact that he and Matt are very much in love seemes so much more close to reality than what many authors do, hey your previous love forgotten entirely and now let's do a move on. Move on in RL IMO is much more painful and slow, and with oneep forward two step back.
I loved this one and LOVED the ending.
Harper Fox paints a stark portrayal of love and loss in this beautifully written novella.
One man finds himself near rock bottom after a bitter betrayal by his lifelong partner. Another man helps him pick up his pieces. Neither seem ready to fully trust the other, but what follows is a stunning story of recovery.
I loved this story and am amazed at how Harper Fox can pack so much depth into characters with so few pages!
Harper Fox writes with intensity and detail Her hero is a mess after his boyfriend of many years leaves him out of the blue for a woman.
I am mean a self harming through hook ups, drugs, booze, and nearly getting kicked out of med school mess.
His only friend seems more like a double agent for his ex and then he meets the other hero.
This is an intense interior romance. It is very human but I needed more time to really believe in the love story and the recovery.
I loved this book, just wish it was longer. Matt fell apart without Joe and by chance, Aaron shows up. I thought this book (including the Audible version which I loved) was extremely realistic and well perceived by the author. Yes it moved fast, but realistic people, people who have been broken and abused by life and/or loves can sometimes see their other half with clarity. They have real trouble putting the pieces back together but a painful clarity which in some cases can be useful. Aaron can see through all the self destructive haze Matt is in and somehow reaches him...I wish this author would have given us more but again, the authenticity of these men in this situation amazes me. I LOVE SEAN CRISDEN's NARRATION in Audible! Many don't, warning, it's heavily accented, I had to start it twice, but thought it fit the scenario and characters so perfectly I came to love it! I can listen to about anything Sean narrates, he's one of my go to guys!

Re read.
This story holds up on the re-read. I liked Matt and felt his pain at the breakup with Joe. His pain was so real and while his coping mechanisms we not healthy they still read as plausible.
I was looking forward to meeting Joe and was disappointed when we did. Not for being let down in the storytelling but just let down by Joe himself, as we’d only seen him through Matt’s eyes I was expecting a different person.
I loved Aaron and really liked that he had his own set of problems, but Matt and him together were fantastic
This book was indescribably fantastic. Harper Fox just wrecked me with this book!!!
I ADORED "Life After Joe". In only 100 or so pages it packed an emotional punch that rivals any book that I have ever read.
Matt has been in a tailspin since his partner since childhood left him for a woman. Meaningless sex, non-stop drinking; life is a blur for Matt at the moment. Only the green eyes of a reticent stranger at a bar seen to draw Matt out from his haze of misery. Aaron seems perfect to Matt; intelligent, gorgeous and a beacon of hope. But is Aaron as wonderful as he appears or is he keeping something from Matt as well?
Instantly, from the beginning of this book, I connected with Matt. I got right into his head space. I felt so entwined with him. Wow, did Harper Fox do an amazing job. For example, that blowjob scene in the bar... just wow. How did Harper Fox write such beautiful prose that was just exploding with emotion, yet get the gritty, base essence of that scene. I was just so there. I had tears pricking at the corners of my eyes for the whole story. The intensity was present throughout and I could focus on nothing else around me as the story played out. The story as a whole really really worked for me (if you can't tell!!).
I could have used more at the end, to be honest. I wanted Matt and Aaron's story to continue. However, that is just me being greedy. I think the story is perfect as is and I will add this book to my favorites shelve.
